Ginsburg-Landau theory of supersolid
نویسنده
چکیده
We develop a simple Ginsburg-Landau theory to study all the possible phases and phase transitions in He, analyze the condition for the existence of the supersolid (SS) and map out its global phase diagram from a unified framework. If the condition favors the existence of the SS, we use the GL theory to address several experimental facts and also make some predictions that are amenable to experimental tests. A key prediction is that the X-ray scattering intensity from the SS ought to have an additional modulation over that of the NS. The modulation amplitude is proportional to the Non-Classical Rotational-Inertial (NCRI) observed in the torsional oscillator experiments.

Quaternion Landau-ginsburg Models and Noncommutative Frobenius Manifolds
We extend topological Landau-Ginsburg models with boundaries to Quaternion Landau-Ginsburg models that satisfy the axioms for open-closed topological field theories. Later we prove that moduli spaces of Quaternion Landau-Ginsburg models are non-commutative Frobenius manifolds in means of [J. Geom. Phys, 51 (2003),387-403.].
متن کاملOn details of the thermodynamical derivation of the Ginsburg–Landau equations
We examine the procedure of thermodynamical derivation of the Ginsburg–Landau equation for current, which is given unclear and contradictory interpretations in existing textbooks. We clarify all steps of this procedure and find as a consequence a limitation on the validity range of the thermodynamic Ginsburg–Landau theory, which does not seem to be explicitely stated up to now: we conclude that...
متن کاملQuenched dislocation enhanced supersolid ordering.
I show using Landau theory that quenched dislocations can facilitate the supersolid to normal solid transition, making it possible for the transition to occur even if it does not in a dislocation-free crystal. I make detailed predictions for the dependence of the supersolid to normal solid transition temperature T_{c}(L), superfluid density rho_{S}(T,L), and specific heat C(T,L) on temperature ...
متن کاملFinite electron crystallites in strong magnetic fields: Precursors of a supersolid?
We show that a supersolid phase, exhibiting simultaneously solid and superfluid behavior, properly describes the finite electron crystallites that form in two-dimensional quantum dots under high magnetic fields. These crystallites rotate already in their ground state and exhibit a nonclassical rotational inertia. They are precursors to a supersolid crystal in the lowest Landau level. We use exa...
متن کاملSqueezing superfluid from a stone: coupling superfluidity and elasticity in a supersolid.
Starting from the assumption that the normal solid to supersolid (NS-SS) phase transition is continuous, we develop a phenomenological Landau theory of the transition in which superfluidity is coupled to the elasticity of the crystalline lattice. We find that the elasticity does not affect the universal properties of the superfluid transition, so that in an unstressed crystal the well-known ano...
